About the book
Eight months pregnant, Phoenix is thrown into a waking nightmare when her husband Riley vanishes after a tense argument and turns up dead beside a woman no one can identify.
But Riley isn't the only one who's been lying.
He had secrets. So does his identical twin, Tyler, who steps seamlessly into Riley's place. The closer he gets, the harder it becomes to tell where grief ends and something else begins.
Meanwhile, a watchful neighbor and a woman with a hidden past circle the edges of the truth, each with their own reasons for staying close.
As suspicion tightens and loyalties shift, Phoenix must decide who she can trust before she and her unborn child become the next casualties of something she doesn't yet understand.
Because some lies don't just hide the truth.
They replace it.

About the Author
R. Broviak is a writer and content designer whose background in psychology, behavioral communication, and human-centered storytelling informs everything she writes. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, two teenagers, and a dog who has never once respected the concept of personal space. This is her first novel.
Visual Interpretations
These visual interpretations were created by the author's daughter as artistic responses to themes and moments from the novel.
“Don’t touch him,” she warned, as Bruno-Jacobson was an unsociable cat, devoted only to her. Surprisingly, he tolerated Riley, the only person Bruno-Jacobson ever made an exception for.
Reflecting on that reunion years later, Simone wondered if Paula had intentionally sought her out, or if she’d merely capitalized on a fortunate accident, a twist of fate that brought them together.
